How It All Began

A MOCO Federal Credit Union began with only a will and a ‘can’ and from this they started, Together We Can Do Good. In 2010 AMOCO launched their campaign promise to make a difference in the Galveston County community. During the three-month program, AMOCO pledged to donate $25 for every auto loan financed to five local food pantries. Due to the successful response received, the credit union extended the campaign through 2011 and raised over $70,000 for local food pantries within two years.

In 2012, AMOCO decided to expand its reach by including additional non-profit organizations, each uniquely benefiting the community in a variety of ways. Since that time, AMOCO has continued their campaign promise donating more than $156,000.

Today, the pay it forward program has a new name. It’s called, Create Change! The program provides funds to more than 60 local non-profit organizations. For each qualifying loan made through AMOCO, a member can request 1% of their total loan amount be matched and gifted on their behalf to a participating Create Change Organization. This creates a giving circle that contributes to the common good of the community and local organizations.
